I started Googling in 1999. Then came early Facebook, BlackBerry, iPods, Telecom XT, Instagram, Trello, Shopify, Klaviyo, Pi (RIP). I love being early. Find out what it could do, then see how far I could take it.
A consummate end user? The approved contract: get very good at using. Make the most of what you were given.
But please don’t touch the machine. Nor try to understand it. We didn’t get to decide what to build, how to implement or fix the broken things.
Custom GPTs were the first crack in that arrangement for me. So fun while they lasted. Suddenly I could make a little piece of tech for a fun problem that wasn’t on anyone’s Q2 roadmap.
In October 2026, the week when AI got rebranded Super Intelligence by POTUS, I think the contract is over.
